VII Provincial Chapter
Another New page in the History of North East India Province

The VII Provincial chapter of North East India province held from 3rd to 7th December 2013 at Mangalalaya Guwahati opened another new page in the history of both the Institute and the province. Having gone through a period of intense preparation, we are determined to commit ourselves to a life of renewal and transformation, in order to be authentic sisters of charity, daughters of the Redeemer.

The theme chosen for this chapter is in accordance with the theme of 26th General Chapter,To be a Good Samaritan in the Community and Mission”. A Good Samaritan is one who reads the signs of the times, is critically aware of the situation, whose vistas are open before him. He dares, risks and does not shirk. He is shrewd like a snake and innocent like a dove. Being a good neighbour is not a theory of love but an action of love. It is a walk of love and to live a miracle of love as a Sister of Charity.

In our study, both individual and in group we concentrated on challenges we face in our day today living, and emerging problems in various apostolic sectors. A few key questions stimulated us to identify and seek ways and means to meet the challenges in the socio cultural and ecclesial context in which we carry out our apostolic activity.

Another important objective of the chapter was the election of the Provincial Councillors. Sr.Angelamaria Varangalakudiyil, Sr.David Pereira, Sr.Rita Miasalhou, Sr.Mary Ponthempally were elected as the Provincial Councillors. The rich reflections, intense study and sharing  have enriched us in our role of a “Good Samaritan”. We resolved at the end of the chapter to follow the command of the Lord, “Go and do likewise,” in our Communities and Mission.
